Nice breakdown by Myles.
Question: With amazing blocking like that, don’t you think that Gurley could have scored there, as well?
I do.
Reason I ask? Because Tavon netted zero yards on his other 5 (count ‘em, 5) rushes. ZERO. I’m gonna go waaaaay out on a limb and say that Gurley coulda done better than that.
And Tavon’s 14 yards on 3 receptions? Think another WR might have been able to exceed those numbers? The answer should be obvious.
No need to discuss Tavon’s PR prowess, is there? I think McVay’s solved THAT problem.
Bottom line? I think that we’re kidding ourselves when we try to convince ourselves that Tavon is a powerful O weapon that cannot be done without. The evidence suggests otherwise. Sigh...
I've been trying to lay off my TA posts because it's become a redundant point of discourse. Just hate to see you left twisting in the wind on this one.
Not much point in debating who else could have scored on that play. He did, and I get that he can occasionally bring that game to the table. The threat of it is a part of the game plan. Yep. But I very much agree with, and have also posted that he's not the only pony in town. I've seen this done on other squads, the offensive scheming being done with Tavon here, by teams like the Chiefs. I don't like the fact that when you look at his ratio of busted plays to positive ones, it doesn't bear the love some give him out, or the contract he is paid. And I do care about his contract. Very much.
Anyway, standing with you on this one. I tend to agree with a lot of it. Now I'm gonna just put it away. Enjoying too much of what the team is doing well and the improvement across the board to let it get me down.
It'll all work itself out next offseason.
