Always with the rationalizations for Fisher’s lack of results.
And the ignoring of other contributing factors beyond injuries.
Such as...
Poor hires of O asst coaches.
Lack of development of rookies.
Drafting players that didn't seem to fit his system (whatever his system was).
Lots of FA’s acquired that were overpaid and/or disappointed.
Foolish extension of Tavon.
Some strange gametime decisions.
Players coach at the expense of discipline and demanding sound fundamentals.
Tolerance for excessive team penalties year after year.
Tolerance for mediocrity from his asst coaches, too.
Ran a country club camp and waived available mini-camps every year.
Seemed to get outcoached all too often, sometimes embarrassingly so (routs).
And this was over the course of a full 5 years! A more than fair time frame to prove that his methods were working. Two years more than what I would consider fair, frankly.
Finally, a word about the lack of a QB and/or excessive OL injuries.
Just who was responsible for ensuring that those things were adequately anticipated? And that the players were protected and developed?
I mean, he had Bradford, Foles, and Goff as QB’s. How have those players performed both under and after Fisher?
Hav and Jamon Brown under and after Fisher? Gurley?
Tolerated Barnes at C and GRob at LOT? Britt and especially Quick?
I could go on and on, but what’s the point?
Enough with the tortured rationalizations.
I think that the evidence is abundant and very clear as to Fisher’s competence and value as a HC for the Rams.
McVay in 6 short months has demonstrated just how poorly Fisher was performing. Night and day difference, and that’s not any exaggeration.
Rant over. Sigh...
