I think McV is still figuring him out and at least immediately using him to get the explosion back in our run game with the belief that he can take one of those sweeps to the house himself. I'm not sure he's even gotten to the receiver stuff just yet. I believe the injury has prevented much of that and the trade for Watkins, and development of Kupp and Woods has delayed any urgency to see that immediately.

I know you know this, but just to say it out loud to be clear---when I talk about the "2015 role" it includes being used a receiver. It includes the runs, the jet sweeps, the ghost action and decoy stuff, and also catching a variety of different kinds of passes. So as I know you know, I just distinguish between the 2015 role and being used as a pure receiver.
Given all that, we're really on the same page. This seems very possible to me:

BUT...there's also always the possibility, and we don't know yet, that McVay doesn't prioritize that stuff, which means that TA gets fewer touches than in 2015. (when it was 6.5 a game). We don't know yet, but it could be that because McV didn't draft Tavon, he doesn't really have a strong need to use him fully.
I think he SHOULD give him that many touches. But he might not. Hard to tell at this point. Either way we don't know really know yet how much McV will prioritize it down the line.
That's all I was saying really.

Guys forget about him no punt returns, no touches. His only asset is as decoy He is more
trouble than he is worth.
