I'm gonna cite dz on this, btw. He said that you extend your elite players, even at the expense of your good to very good players, if necessary. That makes a ton of sense to me.

I think that it's fair to describe both AD and Watkins as elite players, right? Currently, our ONLY 2 proven elite players not already under contract (Hekker, GZ, and McQuaide)

So, sign AD and Watkins, if at all possible, at reasonable prices. Reasonable prices for elites, that is.

Goff and Gurley may one day be elites. When (and if) that day comes then the same rule applies to them. Especially the QB.

Everybody else? Demoff and Snead have to do the best they can with leftover cap dollars, the draft, FA, and a shrewd trade or two.

Just the way it's gotta be, imo.

So, AD and Watkins are in unless they make insane demands.
