Donald has historically been great at stopping the run. Brockers has been at least average, sometimes good.
Barron in GW’s defense was also good. His weakness was pass coverage.
Maybe the issue is the new defense.
The Rams have only had one year where they allowed less than 4.0ypc.
4.0ypc is an arbitrary line. Besides, every year the 4.0ypc is below league average.
Also, the Rams have had more than one year since 2013 were they allowed less than 4.0.
In 2016, 11 teams were under 4.0ypc; Rams were 9th at 3.9ypc.
In 2015, 9 teams were under 4.0ypc; Rams were tied for 10th at 4.0ypc.
In 2014, only 7 teams were under 4.0ypc; Rams were 15th at 4.2
In 2013, 11 teams were under 4.0ypc; Rams were 3rd at 3.7ypc.
These stats clearly show that, with the exception of 2014, the Rams have been above average in stopping the run if ypc is the measure. In the last 4 years, they've been at or below 4.0 for three of them.
