I can understand that. It's about maintaining good faith with each other and living up to already established obligations. And, I can not disagree with that stance at all. But, I think many fans held that against some really great players, even after they had signed a new contract, and came back to the "Rams fold". I know some still harbored feelings against OP, Kurt Warner, and some others, even after they had "outperformed" their contract, and later re-signed. I don't mind if a person feels like they are due a pay raise. Heck, I remember a lot of people angry at London Fletcher leaving the Rams, only to find out later, that really, it was the Rams organization that had low balled him, causing him to sign elsewhere. I was angry at the team for that one.... I got over it.
And for James, I agree... I think Agents do maybe think only about the dollars, not only for their clients, but for their own rep. I think I would really hate to see this "opt-out" take hold in the NFL.
