But I do know something about negotiation. And I know how easy it is to turn it from negotiating into competing. And how easy it is to decide that you are going to come to a solution no matter what assuming there is always a solution to be had. And that the more time and effort you spend on a negotiation, the more you become emotionally invested and the option of walking away disappears because you have mentally put yourself into the lose-lose position of accepting the best bad deal you can finally hammer out. So the final moments of the deal involve rationalization and not calculation.

I fear the Rams are going to do this with Donald.
Rather than FIRST setting a value for something to the organization and vowing not to exceed it, I'm a little concerned from the rhetoric that the Rams are simply vying for the best bad deal they're able to get. It's keeping Donald or bust; and trust me, when I sense that in my negotiating partner I'm going to up my expectations and you have no chance.

We'll see. I realize a lot of PR may be involved and the Rams are trying not to create a public fight with Donald. So maybe that's why they are saying what they're saying. But if they are sincere. the Rams have already caved in. It's just getting to the final debacle.
