As for me, I'm an established player > draft pick guy all day long.

Honestly, I couldn't believe a commentator saying that a 2nd round pick was too high a price to pay for Watkins. Really?
I think the draft is so fun and news-making for these guys that they overvalue draft picks.
On draft day, every player picked is going to succeed. In reality, it's a total crap shoot.

All you have to do is revisit draft lists from the past to realize just how many draft failures there are - and I'm talking 1st and 2nd round!
Name after name where you go "oh yeah, that guy that was supposed to be so good. Whatever happened to him?"

The Rams could spend 2nd round pick after 2nd round pick after 2nd round pick and never find a WR as good as Sammy Watkins.
And there's no guarantee that if they did, that the player would always be healthy.

I think the Rams got a bargain from a team that is reorganizing and wants to jettison the previous regime's players.
That's often one of the best trade opportunities in the NFL to pick up real value.

This acquisition was a huge shot in the arm for this offense, for this team, and for my enthusiasm.
