His point was the person is already non responsive and considered dead, how can doing nothing be better than doing something and maybe you don't execute it just right, but some good chest compressions are better than 0. Sammy Watkins gives the Rams offense life where it had none since the Warner Brothers left over a decade ago. He may never be healthy and it may not work out, but I do know this, to do nothing guarantees you the team will have no life.

I mean, this is EXACTLY what the Rams have been: a flat-lining patient needing a jolt of current. I cannot imagine a better metaphor.
And I agree with your main point. Hey! Let's get out the paddles and take a shot. It cannot possibly be worse than what has been happening. Sammy may just be that jolt we need!
Note: I think my co-option of the metaphor is sloppy. My daughter, a nurse who works with heart patients, says that all the TV shows get it wrong: you don't use the paddles on flat lining patients. You use them on fibrillating patients. 81, you're a pro so you know that. But, what the hell--it's a metaphor. And the Rams DO NEED a jolt of current!
