I almost didn't post it as I felt it was a little boasting, but it is something I am proud of so I shared.
But telling people each day like you telling nurses that you appreciate what they do is a great form of leadership. One of Vermeils principles, is let people know that you care and appreciate their work. I posted his YouTube speech multiple times on this board and think it is tremendous.
I work in IT and have all kinds of people and different personalities and I try to get the strengths out of each of them. They all add something different, but I know when my college coaches shared their feelings about me how it made me feel, so their influence got me doing the same thing on the job later in life. I write a note at Christmas every year to every person that works for me, with me, and even my bosses. Probably takes me about 2 hours, 20 to 30 emails.
I am sure the nurses appreciate you and your style!
