Picking tomatoes is hard on the body. The same could be said for any number of construction jobs, too. Not to mention military service.
These players are entertainers being paid gobs of money. The trend is clear. Seasons have increased from 12 to 14 to 16 regular season games over time. It's not a question of "if", it's just a question of "when" we see the 18 game regular seasons. All the market forces are pushing in that direction.
