I will frame the context. They apologized for missing the appointment and said there was a system glitch and than referred to the perks they gave me for the new deal that they had already given me when I placed the order a few days ago.
My first experience years ago with Direct TV was positive and maybe, it will get worked out in the end after wasting so much time.
Get this, I had wanted 7 receivers and their process if you want more than 6 receivers is to refer you to another department. On hold multiple times for 30+ minutes and I get this guy who quotes me 300 dollars for receivers 5,6,7 when original person said 150. The original person was very good, but after that you get whoever once they have your credit card order.
I supposed if I didn't have that one complication, that part may have went down better. The missing of the appointment was inexcusable with no phone call whatsoever.
But what a bad process to transfer somebody to complete the order. The explanation I finally got was that the Genie system only accommodates up to 6 and another DVR is needed after 6, but why can't the person taking the order complete the entire process?
Than the next day I look at the order that came in the email and 35 dollar extra discount for upgrading ATT phone to unlimited wireless is not there for direct tv. Another call and they say, it takes a few months to apply that discount. How difficult is it to apply a discount immediately? The 10 dollar discount for auto pay on the bill for the phone part is not there and another call and same story, that the discounts take a few months to kick in.
There is more to the story if I actually got down to the phone conversations. When you call, you get a phone that must be in the middle of like a big gym as all kinds of background noise with hooping and hollering going on in the background. You can barely hear the people speaking to you because of background noise.
I think I had 6 phone calls and 3 of them were incompetent and 3 were pretty good, but bottom line, something that should take 15-30 minutes took 3+ hours and a vacation day on a no show for an installation.
I hope the product is good.
