Direct TV.....You call and set a cancellation date...preferably when you are away.....they beg you to stay and offer you very little discount....and then try to scare you by saying that you will have to send all the boxes back....stand your ground , set a date and they will turn it off.....after 48 hours they will call you back and give you the Discount that they give new customers.....Free Sunday ticket and $$$$ off your monthly bill, plus gift card if you push it...and if they don't call you back, I can give you the number to call and tell them that your received a call from them to call this number about retention ( even if they didn't call you )
I did all of what you say but was actually cancelling. It was no bluff on my part and I'd been with them for 15+ years straight. It wasn't a scare tactic that they wanted their box back, they did want it back. No begging by them, no "please" don't leave or a couple days later, please come back.
It was a lot more like F you, don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out.
I miss Sunday Ticket but $100+/month was way too much to justify watching games. Because you can't just get the Ticket. You have to get ESPN if you want to watch all the games so you have to get whichever premium package actually includes it. I know it isn't the base package.
