We just see this differently, zn. Which is cool, of course.
McVay faces pretty much what every new HC faces?
Let's see...
Just so far and before camp practice one, the following changes have occurred:
The obvious hiring of a new staff. Pretty much the same as every other new HC, granted.
But the scope of the projected new players, including former starters but at new positions? BIG changes, man.
LOT
C
RG
RT
TE
WR (Woods)
WR (Kupp at either slot or outside)
That's 7 of 11 starters changed right there. Plus Goff and Gurley need to be brought up to at least NFL average, don't you think? I mean, it would have been easier to say that Saffold was the only O starter from '16 that is not projected either new at their position for this year OR an unknown quantity holdover from last year (Goff and Gurley). And I'm kinda assuming that Tavon will start AND be improved to the point of being an effective WR, btw.
The above are just McVay's O challenges in his first year. Emphasis first year.
Sure seems like a helluva lot to me. More than Carroll faced in his rookie year as I recall. Maybe more than any other HC that I can recall, tbh.
But we can agree to disagree, if you like.
