No sports journalist in LA has caught my attention like Vinny B.
He has solid analysis, reasoned thinking, isn't a hype machine, and seems to get some decent intel.
I agree with him about TruJ. I think if the Rams had to choose between Tru J, Ogletree and Donald, Tru J is out.
But I also agree about Quinn. If he doesn't play 16 games and make a significant impact getting to the QB (I'd think at least 12 sacks), I think he could easily be cut. I'm pretty sure that 1 of the 3 of Tru J, Ogletree and Quinn will not be here next year.
And if I had to narrow it down further, I'd say it'll be between TruJ and Quinn.. one of those two will not be a Ram for the 2018 season.
I think the Rams need to shut down negotiations with TruJ, have him play under the tag, and let him prove if he's really that 7 INT guy, or more like that 1 or 2 INT guy.
Pretend that in 2018 the Rams have a 20 M cap hit for Donald, a 10 M cap hit for Ogletree, and a 10 M cap hit for T.J.
Right now, they can afford that. If nothing else changes, that would leave them with anywhere from 9-10 M in 2018 cap space depending on their rookie contracts in 2017.
What they CAN'T do is sign all those guys, keep everyone they currently have who is under contract, and ALSO keep both Joyner and Alexander next year.
