Many colleges run a pro style offense so i'm not seeing the argument there.
Goff didn't play for one. Which is deeply relevant since in fact I was not discussing rookie qbs in the abstract I was discussing Goff. There is a long list of things he didn't do in his college offense that he now has to do in the pros, and a long list of skills he needs (still) to develop which his college offense did not prepare him for.
That;s just the nature of Goff's learning curve. He started way behind on many basic fundamental skills and techniques and procedures that form the basic scaffolding of playing qb in the pros.
In fact, of all the college Air Raid offense qbs who have come into the pros, you know who has done the best so far out of all of them?
So far---
1. Foles. Though when he did well, it was in Kelly's pro spread system. When he got to be the starter of a pro style system he melted down.
2. Keenum. Though Keenum doesn't have all the physical skills to be a true starting caliber NFL qb.
