Thanks for posting. As far as the article itself, huh? The Rams have no leverage with Tru. They had two promising young CBS to sign and picked the wrong one. Paying the 25th best CB the most for the position is just plain dumb. Jenkins is better and cheaper.
I do hope they come to a long term deal to keep him but they'll have to give him incentive like a ton of guaranteed money to lock him up. He is simply not a million dollar per game kind of player.
He's our best CB but not the best in the league. So why would he take a home town discount? He plays a very violent sport where life long injuries can happen on every play and he's going to make 30 million from last year and this year. He could just play this year and retire. I'm sure he'd rather play with AD up front, but he's not sacrificing one dollar for them to sign AD. Not one. He might sign a long term contract with more guarantees. Or he is gone. He could retire or get another large contract from another team next year. We keep saying our front office makes good signings but letting Jenkins go and paying Tru 16 million a year is poor cap management. They were a very good tandem. Young on rookie contracts and we blew it. May lose them both now. But we have no leverage to negotiate with. None.
The Rams really botched things with Jenkins. The repercussions of that mistake will be felt for a half decade.
