Rampage2K-
McVay is far to advanced imo to try and pigeon hole Tavon into Jackson type WR... he realizes Tavon is a weapon with enough speed to take the top off... he will get the most out of Tavon and that might be running a few more go routes the way DJax did.
We just see that differently though to coin a phrase, time will tell.
Being dedicated to your system and the kinds of roles you need in it is not the opposite of being advanced.
He could be very advanced in how he sets up his offense and attacks, and still be dogmatic in terms of the kinds of roles he builds that offense around.
Tavon is not his guy...McVay didn't draft him.
...
Thing is, TA is never going to be just a pure xyz type WR... He has immense open field talent. He can be a Djax, Crowder or a Chris Thompson for McVay depending on how he wants to use him on any given play....that's a lot of flexibility that I'm sure McVay will use to his advantage. With the emergence of some other pass catchers like Kupp, Everrett, Reynolds etc will only open up more space for him and make him that much more dangerous. I'm expecting a huge turnaround for this entire offense and that includes Tavon.
