I grew up in Marlboro NJ, was supposed to be a Giants, Jets, Eagles fan….but had no real loyalty to any. Then that Monday night football game in December 10, 1973, the Los Angeles RAMS vs. the New York Giants.
I watched this game and was infatuated with the HORNS on the Helmets even though we had a black and white TV. That whole game the RAMS ran the ball as the WANTED to and the Giants could not stop them. THAT is what made me a RAMS fan, and like all of us have NEVER wavered or looked elsewhere for a team.
While during 1973 season Jim Bertelsen, Tony Baker, Les Josephson, Rob Scribner were good backs, my favorite was Lawrence McCutcheon. Lawrence’s stat line in that Giant’s game was; 11 carries for 80 yards and 1 TD with 2 catches for 27 yards and 1 TD. Gawd he was fun to watch.
