I think he's more quick than fast, too. But his real problem is his hands are not reliable.
For the first forty yards or so, he's gonna win most races. He just doesn't catch everything thrown his way.
That's a high school time...Brown's 10.06 was after or during college and/or training for Olympics. Don;t know if Austin even ran track in college, if he did, I am sure his 100M time would be better...
I think it's his hands AND route-running...those are why he's not effective as outside receiver.
I didn't mention Brown in this thread. Someone else did. Great sprinter and player for the Rams, though.
Gurley's time was in high school too. I typically try to compare apples and apples, not apples to oranges, though I slip up now and then.
Most NFL players, if they ran track in the past, did so in high school, not in college. So that's usually our only source for those times. Again, exceptions. But the majority ran in high school only.
I agree about the hands and route-running. Said so about the hands many times before. But, yeah, the routes are problematic too.
