James I could not agree more with your observations in this thread about Goff. He didn't look the same lat year as he did in College. I am certain that the regression we saw was in part being in a new system; but, primarily due to the fact the offense was poorly coached. Linemen missed assignments routinely, the running game was non existent and the receivers often ran poor routes and or made poor adjustments. There was no rhythm to the offense. I saw him throw balls in anticipation of where he thought a receiver would be or where they were supposed to be but were not and not just to dump it before being sacked. I like that route running precision is important to McVay. I hope some semblance of an offensive line will protect him a little. Any QB was doomed to fail in that offense last year. NOW we will see two things, can McVay coach up this offense and will Goff elevate or continue to struggle. I'm betting McVay or for that matter just about anyone will run a better offense than the worst offense in the NFL over the last two years.
