Do you think for 1 second if the Rams thought this guy was going to be good they would have not picked up his 5th yr option so they could control 18'? The option is only against injury to begin with.
Do you think they'd want to be in a position where they'd have to tag a RT if he does well?
This isn't about being a bad LT but might be a good RT. It's about poor technique from YEARS of being a grabber, and its most importantly about a guy (being kind) who is completely lost between the ears.
He's lucky if he breaks camp with even this OL-starved team.
