I can't think if any 1st rounders given up for anything other than a QB.....and not lately...except for one.
I know of the 2nd rounder that Arizona gave to the Pats for the edge rusher. But, they got him with a year left on his rookie contract so he was cheap.
I know that the Rams paid very little for Barron (wasn't it a 4th and a 6th?). For a former 7th overall pick? And that included getting his relatively cheap rookie deal.
Seahawks gave the Saints a first for a youngish Superstar TE, Graham (but it was a very late first).
But a very good CB (not an elite or Superstar) getting 1st or even 2nd round compensation? I can't remember it happening in the near past.
I could see TruJo fetching a 2nd, Rock. JMO, of course.
But he's a young yet proven and effective CB with good size in today's pass happy NFL. Good teammate with no off field issues. Not a more risky draft pick for a kid that might never even make it in the NFL, much less be a quality starter.
I think that has value to a CB needy team. Maybe 2nd round value. Especially if the acquiring team has lots of cap room and/or picks.
'Course, he would have to sign a reasonable long term contract before the trade could be consummated. Could be a win-win-win for all parties, really.
