In a highly competitive environment, with just one champion each year, like the NFL, there are a couple of ways to end up on top.
1. Do what everyone else is doing, but just do it a bit better than everyone else. Or get lucky.
2. Be a pioneer, innovate something new that changes paradigms, and puts you ahead of the others.
I think younger guys are more likely to hit on #2 than older coaches are.
I have no problem with a young coach, if he's serious and focussed and loves the game.
