I get that some people don't like or trust him, especially those loyal to St. Louis. Totally get it. But 6 months ago most people really liked Demoff. I do think he's managed their cap very well overall. A couple questionable decisions in the past year and hard to tell how much he was or wasn't involved- letting Jenkins go/not locking up Johnson yet, signing Sensabaugh, and Austin's extension.
His thoughts about taking advantage of the opportunity to talk with as many coaches as possible in part to get outside perspectives on what they do and don't have is 100% right. They're not only exploring a lot of great candidates but will get great intell along the way.
He makes a very good point about Draft picks. No 1st round pick but it's not like last year when after Goff they had nothing until #110. They have numbers 37 and 69 on day two plus two 4ths and will have 4 day three picks.
One comment he made- "are we closer to that 6-2 team from late 2015/early 2016 or closer to the 0-7 team from November/December?" It's the latter, Kevin.... Again not that this is a total tear-down, rebuild necessarily, but they need to be honest that they're not 2-3 players away. And I hope the coaching candidates convey that. They need 4-5 new starters
just on offense and several depth/next generation guys on defense. Plus the team's attitude/drive (not all but enough) fell off a cliff and has to be restored.
They don't need a drill sargent type like Tom Coughlin. But Fisher had become far too much of a "players coach" that didn't demand accountability and repercussions. There's a happy medium in there.
