were a handful of rams fans. (feel free to say i told you so.)
the nfl world largely if not universally approved. fisher at the time was considered the top coaching candidate on the market and a victory for kd and sk.
its easy to sit there and play monday morning qb, but its hard to blame them for hiring fisher at the time.
And even more when he hired Brian Schottenheimer as his OC!
And that means there`s no Monday morning QB.
As I posted in another thread yesterday:
Yes, most of the media and some in the NFL circles did think of the Fisher hiring as a victory for the Rams, but don't you think anything would have been a victory compared to what they had with Devaney and Spags? I mean they were 2-14 just before Fisher was hired and two seasons prior to that 1-15.
Also, remember that there weren't a whole lot of big name head coaches interested at the time and I don't remember many hot coordinator names either.
And Miami was the team that created the bidding war for Fisher, so when the Rams finally won him over because Miami was not willing to give him full control and the Rams QB situation looked better at the time, it appeared that the Rams won the grand prize by beating out Miami and getting their guy. The hype was all built up and most perceived that as a big victory for the Rams at the time. But like I said earlier, there were some here that didn't like the move one bit. Personally I was originally neutral, because I knew the Rams would play pretty good defense under Fisher, but hated the Fisher hiring once he hired Schotty as his OC. I wasn't the only one here by any means, but MANY of us knew the offense was doomed from day 1! And that's no Monday morning QB talk!
