It means his contract just cannot expire, at end of season. So there will be a huge buyout on a contract that was signed just a few months ago.

I don't know if extension was signed, but it seemed like a done deal...then came the 28-0 debacle in week 1 and more of those, and there was never a good time to announce it.
So, that is why.
If there was not extension signed.. then that is a whole different animal
But what if it was a conditional offer, B&G?
Say, conditioned on 10 wins?
Or making the playoffs?
If the (hypothetical at this point) conditions are not met, then all bets are off. Kroenke/Demoff may well have had such foresight. I dunno...
