I was at the game and can tell you every one of those Dolphin fans would have left had he made that FG....the game would have been over.
But nope, doink...Greg misses it and all the sudden the Fins have life.
Game of inches.....that kick is 4 inches to the right we win that game IMO.
I don't think any of those Dolphin fans would have left the game. They still needed 2 TD's to win, a feat they accomplished. Even if they would have left, we had to keep the Dolphin offense out of the end zone, not their fans from leaving.
You can't even blame the field position Miami inherited by the miss due to the penalty they incurred. Missing that FG meant we lost by 4 rather than just one point.
Kevin P.
You guys are hung up on the dolphin fans?? Hahaha... It was just a way to say that game was over...
You weren't at the game were you??? The energy was sucked out after the miss and gave the place an uneasy feeling...the old "here we go again"
Greg Z is supposed to be able to make a forty something yarder... It was the right call. The way our o-line blocks.......sigh
Fisher needs to go either way.... He has not held anybody responsible for one of the most uninspired offense I've ever seen....
That was an almost 50 yard FG which is a distance that GZ has shown weakness in.
I don’t have to be at the game to know that you’re underestimating the fight of the other team’s players and coaches. I don’t believe in the concept of the ‘game was over’ when there is 7 minutes left and only up by two scores.
You seem to be basing all of this off of the feelings of the fans and the energy in the building which again is how the fans feel. I think we should give the opponent more credit than projecting they would give up based on emotion.
At that stage running the clock was most important. Fisher not going for it showed a lack of faith in his team.
Wrong call. Especially with GZ’s propensity to miss at that distance.
And our propensity to pick up a first down on 4th down is even worse.... I think the kick was a 47 yarder and he had plenty of distance...missed it by inches, with like 5 minutes left.
All I'm saying is you take the points and go up by 13 to make it a two TD lead against a team that couldn't do much all day would have felt like the game was over with only 5 minutes left.
Unfortunately hindsight is always 20/20 and it didn't work.
Listening to the post game talk on the ride home, none of them had any issue with the call to take the points with the field goal....said it was the right call.
The reason I had a big issue with the call is because it was the epitome of Fisher’s philosophy: too conservative. If they get a 1st down there and continue to run clock, that’s going for the throat. Another four downs would have reduced the clock to 2-3 minutes for them to score a TD and a FG. Killer instinct is lacking.
Fisher chose the conservative route which really didn’t have much upside. 13 points is NOT a two TD lead. 99% of the time, if the opponent scored two TDs, they would lose 14-13. 13 points really only guards against 1 TD and 2 FGs and prevents a tie if the Dolphins had of scored a TD and a FG.
It’s the same conservative philosophy which makes him afraid to let Goff play and actually attempt passes more than seven yards. I strongly disagree with almost all decisions that come from the extreme conservative philosophy.
It’s his lack of balls that is killing the team. I don’t care how many football talk experts disagree.
