Wow, dz! You pretty much encapsulated my feelings about Fisher's philosophical shortcomings as a HC, here.
"The reason I had a big issue with the call is because it was the epitome of Fisher’s philosophy: too conservative. If they get a 1st down there and continue to run clock, that’s going for the throat. Another four downs would have reduced the clock to 2-3 minutes for them to score a TD and a FG. Killer instinct is lacking.
Fisher chose the conservative route which really didn’t have much upside. 13 points is NOT a two TD lead. 99% of the time, if the opponent scored two TDs, they would lose 14-13. 13 points really only guards against 1 TD and 2 FGs and prevents a tie if the Dolphins had of scored a TD and a FG.
It’s the same conservative philosophy which makes him afraid to let Goff play and actually attempt passes more than seven yards. I strongly disagree with almost all decisions that come from the extreme conservative philosophy.
It’s his lack of balls that is killing the team. I don’t care how many football talk experts disagree".
And we both know that he's NEVER gonna change.
Excellent post, sir!
