Fisher is afraid he's going to lose his job (and for our sakes I hope he does sooner than later!). He's using Goff as a pawn and holding him until the last minute. If Goff plays well, he'll try and convince ole Stan that the patience paid off and attempt to get a few more years. If Goff doesn't play well Fish is a goner.

Fish needs to be thrown back into the ocean.
