Once he has that down well enough Fish will be willing to trot him out there. IMO Fish is just extremely protective to, yes, avoid the David Carr syndrome.
If he's been working hard to learn I see no reason why it won't happen soon. It's not like Case has done enough to keep him on that bench. Not a knock against Case, btw, he simply is what he is.
