I think I know which third down play you were talking about. There was a play on the opposite sideline (from the TV camera's perspective). The receiver was hit and went out of bounds. The ref near the play initially marked it short of a first down, but then he looked up and moved the ball a little further up field to give them a first down. This seemed very unusual to say the least.
No, this was clearly past the first down marker but it was a toe tapper type catch one official was about to call it no catch, but the other one said catch. The Cards quickly ran up to the line and ran a play to make sure it didn't get challenged.
