Maybe I'm missing the good ol' days. When we were winning, no one would have tolerated the mediocrity on display week after week. No one would have explained away head scratching moves on and off the field. There were always a couple of contrarians but the rational was always well thought out.
I read explanations and expectations posted and I'm sorry to say, I wonder if losing has lowered expectations so much, that the analysis of results we see has gone south too.
I'm sorry if this hurts anyone's feelings...but I have seen a degradation...
Fire away.
First off, saying fans "tolerate" something is just your indulging your own opinion to the point where you believe you're a neutral judge. You're not.
Secondly,
when the Rams were winning, the majority view was to NOT allow criticism, whether it was fair or thoughtful or not. People would do what you;re doing now, just that it was flipped over. As someone who was among those, for example, who criticized Zygment early, before it was popular, take my word for that.
Either way, win or lose, there were always some posters who judged everything according to their own personal view of it but would act like they were neutrally objective and a voice of the truth and that everyone else was suffering a delusion that needed to be pointed out to them. That's either now, where for example you say their expectations are too low to agree with your view of things (see how that works?) or then, where the majority view was that critics were "too negative." That strain of conformity enforcement always exists. There's nothing new about that. It's as old as posting.
I'm such a typo klutz. I had to edit that 4 times. Or, ... I had to etid that 4 tmies.
