I'm hearing that Keenum will remain "safely on the sidelines" in tonights game since he is the clear starter for game 1.
Typically, that's what teams do with their starting QBs. They put their prize possession in bubble wrap in the PS finale.
What's crazy here is that Keenum is a FA who has bounce around between the Texans and Rams Practice Squads and is viewed as nothing more than a place holder.
And in order to protect this place holder QB, what will be done? Well, the Rams will simply play their #1 overall pick QB in whom they have mortgaged a ton of draft capital. They are gonna expose him to a bunch of desperate defenders who will do anything to try to put a splash play on tape. But hey, it's more important to protect a place holder that their huge investment right?
Thing is, this has been going on all PS. Goff has been relegated to playing with 2nd string WRs and RBs and OL. I get it that Fisher wants to move carefully with Goff and not play him until he is ready, but Fisher has been doing no favors for the kid on the field or in the meeting rooms, which by the way, Fisher is in none of them by his own admittance. Heck, Fisher said he doesn't spend anymore time with Goff than any other of the 90 players that came to camp. He has left Goff in the hand of a first time OC with no track record of ever developing a young QB.
I don't expect much from Goff tonight, just more of the same display of confusion and unpreparedness that you'd expect from a Fisher QB. I just want to know when the media will pick up on this.
