Some people did focus on that argument. That Goff was more ready than Wentz.

However that's a comparative. Being more ready than Wentz does not mean you're ready. Just more ready than Wentz.

BTW I myself did not focus on that argument. I like both Wentz and Goff and would have been fine with either, but I also accepted the argument that they were just completely different players.

I would say if you look at the qb as a pure passer, Goff has it over Wentz in every single way. He processed faster, he decided faster, he threw a quicker ball and made more throws where it took both accuracy and touch. So I had no issue when they took Goff.

These are extremes and not really accurate or fair but as GENERAL comparison, to me it was McNair v. Brady. I could see taking either but the Brady advantage is being a better pure passer combined with having a better "processing mind" for the passing game.

So it wasn't just "readiness."

And Wentz was so unready he did not even make it to a competition...injury aside, he was going to be the 3rd all year.
