I'm not sure what playing High School football decades ago has to do with this situation - I imagine you did a lot of CTE-causing head smashing in practice like my HS team did. You need players healthy and on the field to win and it's all about winning. The doctor who does moving the chains once a week said it best yesterday when he said the players are the assets. You have to protect the vaulable ones.
With the new concussion protocols a 'ding' in practice can turn into 2-3 weeks missed time. I predict you'll see a lot of the teams changing their practice approaches in the next couple years to avoid unecessary shots like the one Benny took.
