R2K is beyond absolutely right in what he says.
These are humans and pushing their body to limits and then beyond...in a game marked by fueled by aggression
and testosterone
(maybe even inhuman amounts!). As a QB I wasn't into the violence of it cuz I was often on the receiving end and couldn't retaliate!! LOL As a QB the only way you get those guys on defense back...is to throw TDs or complete passes or hand off and win the game. However, you wanted violent men on yer side of the ball and in the trenches. They
could be the ones that shield you and let you do yer job. It's quite appropriate for tempers to flair..especially after a Tree cheapshot.
Players do not like cheap-shots...let alone from their own teammate...that was kinda weak on Tree's part. I don't mind a fight over a bang-bang knockdown or a slobber-knocker...but not from one out of the blue after the play is winding down. That's kinda cheap and the offensive teammates came to his aide...that's a good thing. jmo
