I give Goff an incomplete. Our guys didn't block well enough or catch his passable a to grade his performance. Sometimes stats don't tell the whole story. I loved the one throw down field. He has a very strong arm and that was a deep strike. Glad he was really hurt and look forward to his second try. Mannion looked very good. And Keenum played well enough to keep the status quo. Liked the RBs but still hope that Tre gets his head together and back on the field. Yes, he can be replaced and probably already has, but he has unlimited ability and I wish him well. Higbee looks like the best TE I remember the Rams having. Like a bigger, stronger, faster Houlihan. If he can force the LBs back it'll open up space for TG30 and Tavon. One last thought, the hate for BQ is obscene. Yes, expectations were high because of where he was picked, but he came from a school without a playbook. Then, he started to look like a true number one and had a major shoulder injury. I don't see him making a lot of mistakes or drops. I do see him making some nice blocks and he looked good catching the one decent pass his way.
He can only try to get open and catch balls thrown his way. If he does his assignment of each play which is often to whack the CB in front of him he seems to do that. Spruce caught the passes thrown to him. Does that make him a starter over BQ? I don't think so. When TG39 is on the field we want 9 good blockers knocking down their 11 defenders. Britt and BQ can do that.
I agree that the author was too harsh in his Goff assessment, SoCal. Almost like he read the stat line but missed the actual game.
But I think he was pretty much spot on regarding Thomas and maybe Quick. They both need to step it up and PDQ, at that.
The WR train for those last 2 spots is soon gonna be leaving the station.
