It's not believing, or predicting, as you do that that will be the final total... because going in 'history' makes such a result feasible... I can see that.
But short of the offense collapsing.. meaning devastating injuries, (numerous), Keenum and Goff both falling flat on their faces, I can't see a team with the quality of the Ram's defense winning fewer than half their games.
But as you can see, you and I see the defense differently. I think the loss of Jenkins hurts, and the safety position concerns me as well... but other than that I think the talent on this defense is second to none, or nearly so. Our DL alone should give opposing QB's their toughest challenges in their respective seasons.
So a 5 win season this year, and without the things I listed in the 2nd paragraph, would almost certainly mean... to me... that our defense is not only 'not all that' but in fact not even close to 'all that'. That's not a comforting thought. I'm convinced our D has well above average talent. Such a result would truly test my confidence in what I have come to know about football. I don't claim to be a football expert, but I've never missed that badly. - JamesJM
