There is a common mindset that the "salary cap is a lie" teams can keep players they really want to keep if it is just about money. The Rams manipulation of the cap and the Saints able to repeatedly be 100 million over the cap but able to get under it just in time without major personnel loses lend credence to this mindset. The Giants have to cut a decent cb soley because of cap issues while the Rams just signed AD, to go along with Ramsey, Stafford, Floyd and are about to resign Kupp all of which are levels above the CB that the Giants just lost and while the Rams lost Williams a decent cb too, the Giants don't have the possible/likely future HOF'ers on their roster (AD, Jalen, BWagz, Stafford, Kupp) to make the loss more palpable. On to the point I know all of the AD contract specifics haven't come out yet but if this Donald deal, and the upcoming Kupp restructure are those moves that lessen the early years cap hits that will allow the Rams to not only keep their foundational stars happy but also minimize their early seasons cap hits to allow to the team to improve it's roster further during this time when it's Super Bowl window is open? Will this AD deal (and the Kupp one) actually give the Rams more cap space to give OBJ enough to make him happy and possibly even have enough space to squeeze in a Robert Quinn and a Jackrabbit Jenkins? Sure eventually the Rams will have to pay the piper but this is America, eventually the deficit will have to be dealt with too. Is this Donald deal a win win (secure a generational talent while also opening up cap space or just a win, securing a generational talent)?
