You have to wonder if any player is thinking about his team winning. I don't think I've even heard "winning" coming out of the mouth of a single HC or player. Only stuff about the virus, getting paid, and avoiding risk.
All these athletes of course have a competitive urge. However being motivated to play at the highest level in a dedicated manner is another thing. Good luck with that.
I could easily see this being the year of true parity when there is no telling on each Sunday who is going to win because winning isn't really going to be the top priority for the team no matter how much they might pretend that it is. It simply isn't where their minds are.
Just read or listen to McVay's interview. It revolved entirely around the virus and player safety. And the player safety wasn't about injuries; it was about testing positive for the virus.
I think we'll see players and teams going through the motions but with no real energy or focus on winning games or a championship.
