What are your thoughts on the Atlanta QB situation? Obviously Cousins is the QB1 and should be for a few years because he just got a new deal. Penix is waiting in the wings; ready to step in if Cousins goes down. Not sure if Atlanta has developed a strategy after the draft day headscratcher. Do you think they will have any desire to shop Penix (or Cousins in the future? We shall see how Bennett does in the preseason to get a feel how long he may be a Ram. Do you think the Rams would consider trading for Penix down the road?
I think unless Cousins plays really bad or gets injured, I don't see Penix getting many chances to show his talent. Cousins should beat him out pretty easily but I could be wrong. You just never know with Rookies until they get the chance to play but even then, Rookie QB's almost always struggle at first.
It will be interesting to see how Morris deals with his QB situation. Will he blindly stick with the VET QB or take a chance with a Rookie QB? We all know how Morris handled the Defense. It was ultra conservative and didn't want to take too many chances. Will he be the same way with his QB's??? Time will tell.
IMO, the Rams won't trade for Penix unless they see something that makes them go "ok, we have to get this guy" but I am not sure the Rams will get to see very much from him. Maybe in a year or two after there is some film on the kid but it will have to be realy good film and we will have to be in the need for a QB.
