I'm not as sure as some that this is mainly about allowing Skowronek to hook on somewhere else. I mean, the Rams are good guys but if he had any chance of making this team under most any circumstance, he would not have been cut. I figured he'd be one of the last players to be cut, but also doubted he'd make it. If I was Tutu I also wouldn't expect to make this team. That WR room is just too deep and he offers zero for STs.
They are likely evaluating Skow's WR contribution, along with his STs contribution, and looking at their new roster of players and making this decision.
I think some other guys are also going to be on the bubble or released pretty soon, because so much of what has been accomplished these past 2 drafts is to bolster the deep end of their roster, which theoretically ought to help field a much better Special Teams. In other words, they think some of the new blood is better out of the box than some of the guys that they had on the roster last year.
