I too see Latu as the better pick of the 3 - Turner, Verse and Latu.
Latu's college production and combine numbers put him in some rare company as far as edges coming out of college in the last 7 - 10 years.
Like Alyo said, for Latu to have the advanced hand, etc. skills he shows, he must have put in hours of study and practice, a good sign of dedication/work ethic.
If the Ram doctors say he is ok, then he is ok. They are some of the best doctors in the world. That plus 2 years of not missing a game . . .
As far as defending the run:
PFF ratings for Edge defenders vs. the run - 2023
1 Andre Carter
2 Justin Eboigbe
3 Max Michel
4 Javontae Jean-Baptiste
5 Marshawn Kneeland
5 Richard Jibunor
7 Adisa Isaac
8
Laiatu Latu9 Javon Solomon
10 Darius Robinson
30 Chop Robinson
64 Bralen Trice
74 Dallas Turner
120 Jared Verse
Of course all this thinking may be wrong and he or any of the others may be busts - because the draft is a high stakes crapshoot and you never know.
A few crazy things:
- Myles Garrett at 270 lbs had a vertical of 41" and added 33 reps on the bench - unreal.
- not listed, JJ Watt at
290 lbs, ran a 6.88 3 cone - totally unreal.
- Not saying he will be Bosa, but it's amazing how Latu and Bosa's numbers are almost identical.
