the numbers. He had many 1st's for the league. He was one of the 1st "Big" QB's that later became the norm. He was the 1st IMO person of "Color" to play QB in the league. He just didn't have all the colorful statistics, to be considered at the time of his retirement. Didn't have any catchy nicknames. He would be in hands down if the RAMS had won some of those 1st SB's....they were right there and in my mind as well as others things just didn't smell right in some of those playoff games. He wins an early SB he would been in easy, as it is he was a solid, well respected (inside the league) where the history didn't show out for him.
He is in a category of he did this, he was that but in the end he didn't have what ever they choose to be in the Hall. His life was full, his health was good (outside of football type stuff), he kept his faculties, he was a treasure trove of stories, and he was a RAM who helped get that team out of some sour years and into the spotlight.....for me as a RAM fan that makes my Hall of Fame.
