That seems to be this article's point. If you want to increase your odds of getting a good player, do NOT select a QB or WR in round 1. Pick something else. Instead trade back and get more picks.
Most draft board will list players by value, and very often QBs are rated as high as other players of other positions, yet they are taken higher. Assuming the valuations are in the ball park, logic says pick the higher ranked player. But, teams don't operate that way. GMs draft for need.
The good news for the Rams is they do not need a QB or a WR. So for Pete's sake don't use a 1st round pick on one.
