Given the Ram's current draft positions in rounds 1-3, here are four players I'd be very happy with. I am trying to be realistic about what players might be available when the Ram's picks come up.
Round:
1. Latu, UCLA, Ed (assuming his medicals are okay)
2. Pearsall, FL, WR (I think he'll be long gone, but maybe ....a stud who will run very precise routes, block, and RAC: all things McVay covets)
3. Ray Davis, KY, RB (I think a second high quality back is needed to share the load with Williams, or in case of injury).
3. Liufau, Notre Dame, LB (tough against run, hard nosed player) (my other choice here was almost Cam Hart,CB, also Notre Dame)
Do others here have a fav four?
I love your top 3.
Latu is a defensive version of Kupp or Nacua, in that in spite of his lack of the classic desired measurables he consistently outperforms them. Not sure how he does it but I'd like to see those pressures in our defense.
Pearsall is one of many quality options I like through the first few rounds. Not my favorite but if we were to get him round 2 that would be a nice win for the round and our offense.
Davis is one of the few RBs that I won't slam my beer down if we take him round 3. Another high quality player who would make the team better though at this point given what you've done above I would hope for a DT.
Liufau I wouldn't hate as a pick but it feels like a luxury. Which, again, looking at the depth chart DT looks weak and we didn't do a thing to supplement it to this point which to me is a fail overall.
Rams may have some underrated DT types earmarked after round 3 and that's fine. But since I haven't looked at all their film and have that list ready to hand where I feel good about it I would be very concerned if we get to this point of the draft without addressing it.
