Especially the second one I feel is important. Stafford probably have 2 good years left and the team is now entirely build around him with no need to adjust. Seems logical to build ones identity around ones strength while maintained hopefully a competitive defense, if not an elite one, through the draft on cheaper rookie contracts.
If we do NOT trade for Stafford's replacement but actually draft him when the time comes, then even if McVay is still here, I believe it might become less lop sided, simply while the new offensive identity and structure is put in place and built.
At least that's my two cents on how it should be.
