They want their offense to be the identity. It can work, especially if they hit on their draft picks. This is why I don't rule out receiver in round one and I don't rule out them not using their first round pick on an edge either. I think they want to be unstoppable on offense and at least stoppable with their defense.
There is some truth to it I suppose, in how they stacked those rosters. But it could also be that they decided to flip things and go with experienced vets on offense and a youthful defense. Which doesn't mean you're conceding defensive quality in terms of identity. Having speed and fresh legs and that general vigor you get with younger players can be advantageous to a defense.
So maybe after this draft is over the Rams will have a strong defensive unit, with maybe a hole here and there, but young and also talented.
