Johnson is a savvy vet and valuable as our young and promising safeties continue to improve; if he cannot live with what the Rms offer for the value he can deliver, let him walk. I don't think he'd command that much on the free agent market.
Witherspoon is a valuable piece and played through injury late last year because we had nobody on the bench who could match his banged-up late season performance. He's smart, a baller, and a must-keep unless he pulls a miracle contract out of the sky from somewhere else. OTOH, his best situation is with the Rams. His career has flourished here.
True, classical, the secondary was a seive last year, but why? When we dig deeper I think we discover factors that need to be addressed by doing something other than cleaning house.
